Established in 1979, the department of Biochemistry-Biotechnology attracts the cream of students to the 2 programmes at the Post Graduate level it offers, viz., MSc Biochemistry and MSc Biotechnology and Ph.D. The qualified faculty are known for excellence in teaching, nurturing skills, and mentoring. Research, internships, entrepreneurship programmes, project work, organising National seminars, colloquia, science competitions, NET Training and experiential learning are the strengths of the department. The department has dedicated laboratories for plant and animal cell culture with central laboratory facility. Several eminent scientists visit the department to interact with students. The department has over 2100 books and international journals. Students who graduate from the department are absorbed by pharmaceutical industries and premier research institutions in India and abroad. Students of Biochemistry-Biotechnology have been excellent in extracurricular activities, social services and in sports.
