Established in 1955, the department of English offers BA in English as well as Functional English, a vocational programme. With the motto of envisioning an environment of critical thinking and articulate expression, the department is known for its quality teaching, and mentoring of weaker students to bring out their talents. Research is one of the strengths of the department. The library holds over 13000 books related to the subject. Students who graduate with English are absorbed by premier institutions of higher education in India as well as media houses. Students of English also excel in extracurricular activities, social services and in sports.
