Principal’s Message

After going through the fears and uncertainties of the pandemic, we have just begin the New Academic Year 2021-22! Our hearts are filled with gratitude to God who has blessed us with good health, an open mind and a heart filled with love and concern for all.

We would like to Congratulate all our undergraduate and postgraduate students who have completed their studies at St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad ! Your hard work under the shadow of the quarantine has made us all proud! You have sacrificed a lot as you creatively made the best of a very difficult situation! Your degree is not just a piece of paper. It is the set of wings that will help you to fly to new horizons of a new world. I pray that each of you be blessed as you progress in your careers!
A warm welcome to all our new students who will be joining our Institution for the first time. We assure them that they will always be proud of their decision to be a part of the Xavier Parivar !

In the last few weeks we have had added some feathers to our cap! Xavier’s is the only College in Gujarat to be awarded a Five Star rating by the GSIRF for the third consecutive year. The popular India Today Rankings of 2021 rank us at 14th in Computers, 23rd in Arts and 25th in Science in the entire country. We have been ranked 59th in the country by the NIRF [National Institutional Ranking Framework] last year. The unstinting efforts of our Faculty together with the collaboration of the student community, has made this possible.

This year, the College will also be going for NAAC accreditation for the fourth time. Xavier’s was accredited with Five Stars (in 2001), reaccredited with an A + (in 2007) and with a score of 3.41 (in 2014). We will submit our SSR by August 2021; it will be followed by a visit of the NAAC Peer Team to our campus. Our present and the outgoing batch of students will be among those who will be asked to give their personal feedback about the College. The IQAC team has already put in a huge amount of work to ensure that we get the grade we deserve! We dearly miss late Dr Clement, our former IQAC coordinator! . We will need the help of each and every one of you, our Faculty and students to take the College to greater heights in this round of Accreditation!

St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad was conferred the Autonomous status in July 2014 and is currently the only autonomous College affiliated to Gujarat University. The autonomous College has started several new self-financed UG and PG courses, upgraded its teaching and examination systems and consistently strived to enhance the quality of its education. This year we will be beginning 3 new programs. The College has applied for the extension of the autonomous status and the UGC will be evaluating our performance as an Autonomous college, later this year.

At Xavier’s, we have been blessed with deeply committed and highly qualified Faculty who have helped make this possible! We too have adopted new measures to face the challenges posed by the covid pandemic . Our faculty have undergone online trainings and have gained expertise in managing Learning Management Systems, using custom developed platforms and standalone applications. They have also developed valuable E-content. The College has ensured that its academic schedule has been on track and this has greatly benefitted our students.

As we always say, “Xavier’s is not just a College. It is a way of life”. The College has been steeped in the Jesuit tradition of excellence and integral human formation. What we strive for is an all-round personal growth that leads to transformation.

Our vision at Xavier’s is to motivate each of our students to be professionally innovative, to be persons of integrity and to be socially inclusive. As students, you are definitely privileged to be part of this rich tradition of education!! I am confident that with the support of the Jesuit community, our students, staff, parents, alumni and benefactors, we will continue to flourish and to serve society!
