Zoology is a branch of biology which specializes in the study of animals both living and extinct. It focuses on the structure, behaviour and evolution of animals. It blends information from classroom learning with observation and research. Therefore, study tours to various habitats and national parks as well as collection and preservation of the samples are an integral part of learning zoology.

Programmes

An undergraduate course in Zoology designed with a research orientation, deals with animal behaviour, anatomy and their ecology. It is a conglomerate of understanding the animal world from both outside as well as at the molecular level. The syllabus comprises physiology, biochemistry, animal diversity (nonchordates and chordates), ecology, cancer biology, cytology, genetics, animal biotechnology, organic evolution, biophysics, some physico-chemical laws applied to physiology, applied entomology
