The department of Biochemistry-Biotechnology is one of the oldest in the country to offer an undergraduate programme in Biochemistry since 1979. Currently the department offers 3 different UG programmes, viz., BSc in Biochemistry, BSc in Vocational Biotechnology with Biochemistry Major, and BSc Biotechnology. The qualified faculty are known for excellence in teaching, nurturing skills, and mentoring. Research, internships, entrepreneurship programme, project work, organising National seminars, colloquia, science competitions and experiential learning are the strengths of the department. The department has dedicated laboratories for plant and animal cell culture with central laboratory facility. Several eminent scientists visit the department to interact with students. The department has over 2100 books. Students who graduate from the department are absorbed by premier institutions of higher education in India and abroad. Students of Biochemistry-Biotechnology have been excellent in extracurricular activities, social services and in sports.
